Blog #2 - First Few Days With EZ Media Productions

For my first three days working with EZ Media Productions, I worked remotely from home. Every day I had a Zoom meeting with my mentor, David Torres, to go over our schedule for the week and the tasks I needed to complete for each day. David introduced me to how EZ Media Productions edits real estate photos for their clients. These photos included multiple angles of exterior shots. The variety of photos exposed me to the different ways in which his photography team captures a house for their client. The shots included drone footage, side angles, and wide shots. In addition to allowing me to view how they edit multiple angles of the same house differently, David also provided me with examples of houses in different climates. Some photos were taken in the winter with snow covering the house, and others were taken in overcast weather. Based on the weather conditions when the photos were taken, there are specific editing presets and tools that you would use to efficiently capture the home in the photo to satisfy the client’s preferences. David gave me a 20-minute tutorial on how to edit exterior real estate photos. I took notes on the different presets they use, so that they can quickly and efficiently edit their photos instead of editing each photo individually. The presets allow the editor to build a certain structure for their editing settings in order to create a certain look for each of their photos. While watching the video I was able to learn how to alter the depth of the photo to have it symmetrically aligned, how to replace the sky in the image to create a more visually pleasing photo, and how to edit out blemishes that the client does not want in their photo.

He provided me with hypothetical scenarios that a client might ask his editing team. Then, I needed to use Photoshop and Lightroom to edit the photo with the client’s specific request in mind. After learning more about the different editing tools in Photoshop and Lightroom, I decided to implement my new skills to my personal photos. I created different presets to edit photos I took for Hawken’s Battle of the Bands. I’m excited that I was exposed to new editing skills that I can continue to use on my own photography projects.
