Blog #7 - More Experience
Towards the end of the week and into Memorial Day Weekend, I continued to work towards finishing my project. Some of the activities that I participated in included attending the Guardians game, Walnut Wednesdays, visiting local businesses in the Arcades, and eating at East 4th Street. These activities represent some of the most iconic places to visit in Cleveland. Capturing these areas are vital in order to provide potential visitors with an exciting and authentic viewpoint of Cleveland. In addition to working on my Downtown Districts project, I also attended multiple meetings with the Destination Cleveland team, and also helped with one of their video shoots. On Thursday, a third-party video production company came into Destination Cleveland to shoot a promotional video for a visual content marketing software company called CrowdRiff. Destination Cleveland uses CrowdRiff to sift through public posts on Instagram to use for their own promotional use. On CrowdRiff, they ask for the rights of the post, and once the owner releases the rights of the photo to Destination Cleveland, DC saves the content to their library. Destination Cleveland can use other people’s photos for their Instagram posts, website, and newsletter. This makes it easier for them to capture more content of Cleveland. Since Destination Cleveland heavily relies on CrowdRiff to cultivate content for their own personal use, CrowdRiff sent a video production company to do a story on Destination Cleveland. I was able to listen in on the interviews and help with whatever they needed on set. It was interesting to experience a professional video production set, and listen in on how the director works with the subjects of the video and direct the crew. I was excited to see a glimpse into the film industry, before I even go to college. Next week, I look forward to finishing filming and editing my videos for showcasing the different Downtown Districts.
